I'm Nikki Lindberg, a Virtuoso-affiliated travel advisor based in Minneapolis. I specialize in river cruises, expedition and small-ship travel, and custom itineraries through Europe.
Before I became a travel advisor, I spent years working in the arts. I have a double major in Communications and Art History, and a career that included managing art galleries, directing marketing and communications for an arts center, and organizing major art festivals in both Michigan and Minnesota. That background isn't a footnote. It shapes how I see a destination, what I notice, and what I recommend.
When I plan a trip through Italy or France or Greece, I'm drawing on a real understanding of the art, architecture, and cultural history of those places, not a brochure summary. I know how to find the experiences that reflect what makes a place genuinely distinctive, and I know how to communicate that in a way that helps you decide what's worth your time.
I've sailed European rivers and researched the market extensively, including firsthand experiences sailing, as well as participating in industry events, such as the River Cruise Expo hosted by ASTA in Europe. I know how the major lines differ, what drives pricing, when to book, and how to position clients for the best value and experience. River cruising is one of the most misunderstood travel categories, and one of the most rewarding when you get the match right.
I hold several adventurist certifications and have sailed with them personally. I understand what distinguishes a genuine expedition experience from a ship that's simply smaller than usual. If you're considering Antarctica, the Galápagos, coastal Alaska, or any small-ship itinerary, this is an area where having an advisor with direct experience matters.
My background in art history informs how I approach European travel, particularly in cities where the history, the architecture, and the food are inseparable from the experience. I've traveled personally through France, Italy, Greece, Ireland, the UK, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia, and the Vatican, and I draw on that across every European itinerary I build. My philosophy is unhurried travel: fewer destinations covered more deeply, with room to notice things that aren't on the standard list.
I plan trips the way I used to plan events: with close attention to pacing, logistics, and the way individual moments add up to an overall experience. The goal isn't a packed schedule. It's a trip that feels cohesive, intentional, and worth the time you invested in it.
I take on a limited number of clients at a time. That's not a marketing line. It's how I maintain the level of research and attention each trip requires.
I'm transparent about fees. A planning fee applies to most trips, and there's a separate $50 fee for air booking. What you're paying for is depth of research, genuine destination knowledge, Virtuoso-preferred access, and someone who is accountable for your trip from start to finish.
